On Thursday, August 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., the 401 Tech Bridge will present BlueTIDE 2025, a renowned marine technology demonstration event, at Sail Newport and the Narragansett Bay Test Facility in Newport.
Advanced maritime technology, such as autonomous surface and underwater vehicles, mobile sensors, underwater communications systems, and high-resolution imaging equipment, will be on display at the event, which is being organized in collaboration with the U.S. Navy, NavalX, and the Northeast Tech Bridge. It is anticipated that around 30 businesses from both domestic and foreign markets will take part in live, in-water demos intended to test and certify next-generation maritime solutions.
“By bringing together the best minds in maritime technology, BlueTIDE 2025 exemplifies our mission to accelerate dual-use innovation,” said Christian Cowan, executive director of 401 Tech Bridge and Polaris MEP. This event is more than just a showcase; it’s a testing ground where concepts are brought to life to satisfy mission demands and where teamwork produces tangible effects for the blue economy and national security.
Participating businesses will deploy their solutions in mission scenarios created by the Navy as part of the demonstration, offering operational feedback and real-time data collection. Businesses will showcase their advancements in areas such as communications platforms, image technologies, sensor systems, and driverless cars. HavocAI, Vatn Systems, HyperKelp, Charles River Analytics, and SubC Control Limited are notable participants.
The goal of this year’s BlueTIDE event is to bring together defense leaders, industry executives, venture investors, and researchers who are interested in maritime innovation partnerships and funding opportunities. This builds on the success of BlueTIDE 2024, which drew in over 400 innovators and produced over one terabyte of operational data. You can find registration details at 401techbridge.org/bluetide.
