You need to know
On Saturday, September 13, the Newport Car Museum is asking Mustang clubs from all around New England to join in on Mustang Day.
The Cape Cod Mustang Club, Mustangs of Massachusetts, and the Mustang Car Club of New England are among the organizations that have signed up. Through performances, cruises, and other events, the clubs promote the preservation of the breed and friendship among Mustang fans.
Mustang owners will have access to a portion of the museum’s 350-space parking lot for gatherings. Groups of 20 or more can explore the museum’s collection of over 100 vintage, rare, and exotic cars from the 1950s to the current day for a discounted entrance price of $17.
A collection of Mustangs may be found in the museum’s Ford Shelby section, one of seven galleries that house the private collection. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Mustang clubs are anticipated to visit between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Adult entry to the museum is $20, military, senior, and student admission is $17, and children aged 5 to 12 enter free of charge. Youngsters under four enter free of charge.

What else you should know
Ann (Smith) Franklin became the first female editor in the United States on this day in 1762 when she took over as the Newport Mercury’s sole editor and publisher.
The schooner America won a trophy that became known as the America’s Cup on this day in 1851 after outracing over a dozen British ships off the coast of England.
Today at 10 a.m., Newport Public Schools will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the inauguration of its new Rogers High School, which spans 167,000 square feet. Public tours will then take place until 12:30 p.m. The whole Newport community is invited to the event at 15 Wickham Road, which will be attended by U.S. Senator Jack Reed, Superintendent Colleen Jermain, Mayor Charles Holder, and other local authorities. The cutting-edge facility will house the Seaside Cafe restaurant, which will open to the public in October, as well as advanced science labs, fully integrated Career & Technical Education programs, a commercial kitchen for culinary students, donated artwork from local Newport artists, and a state-of-the-art security system.
At the 78th annual reading in Newport, the full house was comforted by the reading of General George Washington’s 1790 letter to the Hebrew Congregation at Touro Synagogue during a time of division. What’sUpNewphere has the tale from Veronica Bruno.
Two limited-edition wines and a number of festive events will be held throughout the fall to commemorate Newport Vineyards’ 30th anniversary.
