According to a fundraiser, a hospital nurse in New Haven passed away after suffering significant brain damage from an unanticipated disease.

Cindy Consiglio, Michael Consiglio, and their two kids, Ben and Olivia. Last month, Michael was brought to the hospital and put on life support.

After feeling ill for a few days, Michael Consiglio, a lead nurse in the Yale New Haven Hospital’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit, was taken to the hospital on July 16. ICU staff placed him on life support upon his arrival, and he stayed there until his death on Sunday, August 10, according to a GoFundMe page.

“Michael died quietly this morning, surrounded by his family’s consoling presence and love. They wrote, “As a devoted nurse and friend, Mike’s strength, wisdom, and unfailing support touched countless lives.”

“His memory will live on in our hearts forever, and his absence in the SICU will be greatly felt. All who had the honor of knowing him will mourn him terribly and remember him with love.

The campaign exceeded its $100,000 target by raising over $83,000.

Since his wife has taken a leave of absence to be at Consiglio’s side and their kids are getting ready to head off to college later this year, the money will help with the family’s costs.

His wife and their two kids are his survivors. As of Monday afternoon, there were no listed funeral arrangements.
