Lauren is survived by her stepdaughter Adrianna Marotta, son Angelo Marotta, and husband Chris Marotta.

After a valiant seven-year fight with leukemia, the 37-year-old mother from New Providence passed away at Morristown Medical Center on Tuesday, August 5. According to the herobituary on the website of the Paul Ippolito Funeral Home, Lauren battled not for herself but rather for more time with the people she loved most.

According to her obituary, Lauren earned a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Sciences from Florida State University after graduating from New Providence High School in 2006. Later, she graduated from Rider University with a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology: Applied Behavior Analysis.

At The Uncommon Thread, Lauren worked as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a focus on early intervention for autistic children. Her family referred to her profession as both her passion and her calling. According to the obituary, she was remembered for her laughter, love of singing, and inherent joy, and her presence brightened every space.

Her parents, Robert and Patricia Gerardo; brothers, Michael (Shannon) and Matthew (Katherine) Gerardo; nephews, Conor and Patrick; husband, Chris Marotta; son, Angelo Marotta; and stepdaughter, Adrianna Marotta, survive her.

On Sunday, August 10, and Monday, August 11, services were conducted.

As of Monday, August 11, her husband’s AGoFundMe had raised $22,000.

The campaign claims that compassion, bravery, and her capacity to uplift those around her characterized Lauren’s life. The children and families she devoted her career to helping, as well as the care teams and communities that were closest to her heart, will benefit from the donations.
