New Tropical Threats Line Up Along Same Atlantic Track As Erin

The Atlantic isn’t moving on, but Erin is.

More tropical waves in the area where Erin first formed earlier this month are being monitored by meteorologists.

Forecasters believe the likelihood of development is increasing for two new tropical waves that are forming along the same route as Hurricane Erin earlier this month.

Both systems are likely to become tropical depressions as they move over the Atlantic to the west, according to AccuWeather.

The basin will remain exceptionally active for this time of year since a third tropical wave, which is still over Africa, is predicted to soon join the Atlantic.

Fernand and Gabrielle are the next names on the 2025 Atlantic storm list; so far in 2025, five storms have been named.

According to AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva, the tropical wave near the center of the Atlantic Ocean is anticipated to travel a similar route as Erin. However, it’s possible that Erin’s wake briefly cooled the water surface, which could have prevented early rapid development.

The Atlantic storm season is far from ended, as seen by the heavy rains that another disturbance is delivering to the Cabo Verde Islands.
