On Wednesday, July 30, the Newport City Council will have two meetings: a special session to discuss a housing issue and a workshop on council rules.
The council’s rules will be the main topic of the workshop, which is set for 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 43 Broadway. On July 22, the notice of the meeting was posted.
In order to discuss Action Item No. 6469/25 concerning the Gallagher Wing and the city’s right of first refusal for ownership transfer to the Newport Housing Authority, the council will convene a special meeting straight after the workshop. The Florence Gray Center-Pandemic Recovery Office CPF-CLC renovations are also included in the item, which also has a resolution attached.
Section 2-17 of the City Charter was used to call the special meeting. City Clerk Laura C. Swistak prepared the meeting docket.
The City Council Chambers at City Hall, 43 Broadway, will host both sessions.
Both sessions, which are a part of the council’s normal governing activities under the municipal charter, are open to the public.
