At its 15th Anniversary Summer Benefit on July 19, newportFILM raised over $375,000 to support its educational programs and year-round documentary film programming.

At IYRS’s Restoration Hall in Newport, hundreds of people attended the organization’s biggest yearly fundraising event. The Stratus Foundation/FlyAdvanced organized the event, with help from BankNewport and The Newport Experience.

As they celebrated NewportFILM’s objective to use documentary cinema to inspire change and foster community, attendees savored wines chosen by Gold’s Wine and Spirits and handed canaps from McGrath’s Clambake and Catering.

NewportFILM’s signature programming, including as its much-liked Outdoors series, as well as year-round screenings and educational programs like Edu, docUnbound, and the Cinematography Lab, will be supported by the Summer Benefit’s proceeds.

Partners such as Kirby Construction, Park South NYC, Starkweather & Shepley, and the Stratus Foundation/FlyAdvanced support the organization’s year-round activities. Lila Delman Compass is the presenter of the 2025 Outdoors series, with assistance from A1 Roofing and Construction, BankNewport, and Hammetts Hotel. 11th Hour Racing is the organization’s sponsor for its 15th anniversary.

Through August 28, the 2025 Outdoors series will continue to film weekly on Thursdays at Newport venues such as Marble House, Rough Point, and Newport Polo Grounds. Every screening includes pre-film discussions with special guests, local food sellers, and live music.

Actress and supermodel Carol Alt, NASA scientist and author Gentry Lee, artist Kenny Loggins, and filmmakers Jesse Moss and Amanda McBain are among the guests on this year’s schedule.
