Paramount Pulls Plug On Dexter: Original Sin

Despite the loss of its second act, Dexter: Original Sin continues to be a popular franchise.

In Dexter: Original Sin, Season 1, Episode 10, Patrick Gibson plays Dexter Morgan, and Christian Slater plays Harry Morgan.

Michael C. Hall’s antihero will once again take the stage as Paramount turns its attention to Dexter: Resurrection.

After confirming a renewal in April, Paramount decided to forego season two of Dexter: Original Sin on Friday, August 22.According to The Hollywood Reporter, the prequel set in 1991 has not been in development since the conclusion of its first season.

Christian Slater played Harry and Patrick Gibson played college-age Dexter in Original Sin, which mapped the code that transformed pain into vigilantism.

Additionally, the series set up early iterations of Miami Metro dynamics by introducing Molly Brown as Debra and Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dexter: Resurrection is booming instead, and a writers’ room for a second season is about to start.

With John Lithgow’s Trinity hinted at as a ghost, Hall makes a comeback alongside David Zayas as Angel Batista, James Remar as Harry, and Jack Alcott as Harrison.

There are currently four series in the franchise: Dexter, Dexter: Original Sin, Dexter: New Blood, and Dexter: Resurrection.

It’s a legacy that began when Miami’s bloodspatter ace concealed a kill room behind the badge and expanded into a world of streaming.

Fans are aware of the characteristic shocks: Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) eventually found out her brother’s secret, and Trinity’s murder of Rita (Julie Benz) destroyed the title character.

Harrison shot Dexter at the end of New Blood, a turn of events that Resurrection is set to exacerbate.

The world-building is still being directed by Clyde Phillips, and an origin story for the Trinity Killer is still being developed.

Paramount+ Showtime is streaming Dexter: Original Sin and Dexter: Resurrection.
