Poison Dangers For Kids Prompt Large Recall Of Torch Fuel

Due to repeated safety violations, more than 11,000 bottles of torch fuel are being recalled, putting youngsters at danger of fatal poisoning.

In August 2025, Firefly Fuel recalled two bottles of lamp oil.

On Thursday, August 14, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Firefly Fuel was recalling approximately 11,275 of their 32-ounce “Safe & Green” torch fuel bottles. The Poison Prevention Packaging Act mandates child-resistant packaging for the hydrocarbons found in the transparent bottles.

Young children could access the liquid if the accompanying nozzle applicator is used in lieu of the original closure because it is not child-resistant. Chemical pneumonia, severe pulmonary damage, and even death can result from inhaling the substance into the lungs.

Additionally, the fuel’s designation as “non-toxic” is a violation of the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. The CPSC reports no injuries have been reported.

Sales of the bottles took place between August 2019 and May 2025. They were sold on FireflyFuel.com, Walmart.com, and Amazon.com.

Consumers should keep the product out of children’s reach, remove the nozzle applicator right away, and replace the child-resistant cap that was included in the original packing. For a free replacement and an updated label, those who are missing the original lid can get in touch with Firefly Fuel.

You can call 888-472-6740 or visit Firefly Fuel’s website to find out more about the recall.
