According to Montvale emergency officials, the report originated from a residence on Waverly Place, where emergency personnel discovered a three-car detached garage with a high level of smoke.
According to officials, the heat caused a propane tank inside the garage to start self-venting, producing loud hissing sounds.
The reason of the smoke is still unknown, and the situation did not escalate into a major fire.
The fire departments that responded were from Pearl River, Woodcliff Lake, Park Ridge, and Montvale. The situation was cleared by crews in less than an hour. There were no reported injuries.
