‘Rage Against The Regime’: Nationwide Protests Planned Against Trump Administration
The nation’s citizens are preparing for a fresh round of planned protests against the administration of President Donald Trump.
On Saturday, August 2, the demonstrations are taking place all around the nation at different times of the day.
“Rage Against The Regime,” a new statewide day of action organized by the 50501 protest group, is scheduled for Saturday, August 2.
As of Friday, August 1, there were fewer registered protest sites than at past protests “No Kings” and “Good Trouble Lives On,” but organizers anticipate a rise in attendance.
The demonstrations are a part of a campaign of nonviolent protests against what organizers say are increasing attacks by the Trump administration that is taking place throughout the summer.
The topics of discussion at Saturday’s gatherings will include dangers to democratic institutions, tough immigration enforcement, and attempts to abolish government organizations like Medicaid and the National Weather Service.
The organizers stated in a statement that their objective is to “build and strengthen the community networks we will all need to channel our rage at the lawless rule of the Trump regime into nonviolent action”. In addition to learning about the effectiveness of boycotts and other forms of economic noncooperation, attendees will make connections with neighborhood organizations engaged in important community work, such as coordinating mutual help or advocating for the rights of immigrants.
The name 50501 was inspired by the phrase “50 protests. 50 states. 1 movement.”
