Ramsey HS Grad Youssef Nissan Dies, 25

According to his obituary with CC Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Youssef Joseph Nissan of Ramsey passed away on Saturday, June 21, at the age of 25.

According to his obituary, Youssef was born in Ridgewood, graduated from Ramsey High School in 2018, and graduated from Rowan University in 2023 with a degree in psychology.

“Youssef brought immeasurable joy, laughter, and light into the lives of everyone who knew him,” according to the notice. “From an early age, he was known for his adventurous spirit, his kind and compassionate heart, and his remarkable ability to make others feel truly seen, heard, and loved.”

As of this writing, close friend Gustavo Palacio’s AGoFundMe campaign had raised $10,000 to assist with burial expenses.

“I want to alleviate some of the financial strain that his parents are going through at this very trying time,” Palacio wrote. We appreciate your cooperation, your generosity, and your contribution to Youssef’s memory.

Youssef is survived by his parents, George Wood of Ramsey, Nada Eliya Wood, and Yacoub Nissan of Wayne; in addition, there are innumerable friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

On Tuesday, July 1, First Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood will host a public memorial ceremony at 11 a.m., after a private burial. There will be a reception in the church hall afterwards.
