ROTC Cadet Neil Edara Dies During Army Training At Fort Knox

US Army officials revealed that a 21-year-old New Jersey Army cadet lost his life while participating in a land navigation exercise at Fort Knox.

While enrolled in the 9th Regiment’s Advanced Camp for Cadet Summer Training, Ridgewood, Bergen County resident Cadet Neil Edara was unconscious on Thursday, July 24.

After being evacuated to the University of Louisville, he was declared deceased.

According to officials, Edara, a Rutgers University student, enlisted in ROTC in September 2021.

Lt. Col. Timothy Sorensen, a professor of military science at Rutgers, described Cadet Edara as one of the most committed and brightest young commanders he had ever met.

Everyone around him was profoundly impacted by his cool-headedness and persistent dedication to greatness. The whole Rutgers community and ROTC are grieving his passing.

According to the Army, the reason of death is still being looked into.

“Support is being offered to cadets in the form of religious and spiritual counseling.” Fort Knox is still a training ground.

One of the main components of ROTC’s leadership development program is Cadet Summer Training, which consists of field training and intense drills.
