Sakonnet Vineyard celebrates Little Compton’s 350th Anniversary with Summer Concert Series and Folk Festival

Published On:

Little Compton’s historic Sakonnet Vineyard is rolling out the red carpet this summer to celebrate the town’s 350th anniversary with a series of musical events that blend community spirit with the vineyard’s scenic charm.

The celebration kicks off with the LC350 Summer Sunset Music Concert Series, featuring two free outdoor concerts. On July 23, bluegrass and Americana group Three Tall Pines will perform, followed by Gary Farias on July 30. Both concerts run from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and are open to the public, with seating provided and food and beverages available for purchase.

“We are thrilled to be joining in the exciting celebration of Little Compton’s 350th anniversary, especially as we celebrate our own 50th anniversary of the vineyard,” said Marissa Stashenko, Director of Operations at Sakonnet Vineyard. “We’re looking forward to welcoming residents and visitors of our historic town to the property all summer long to mark this incredible milestone.”

The vineyard will host a Community Country Line Dance on August 24 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., organized in partnership with the Little Compton Wellness Center. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

The summer’s marquee event is the LC350 Folk Festival on August 30 from 2:00 to 8:30 p.m., featuring performances by folk legends Tom Rush and Aztec Two Step, along with Gary James Farias. Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased in advance, with children 12 and under admitted free. The festival opens its doors at 11:00 a.m., with a rain date of August 31.

Founded in 1975, Sakonnet Vineyard is celebrating its own golden anniversary this year as New England’s oldest vineyard. The 169-acre property in Little Compton has become a cornerstone of the region’s wine industry and a popular destination for visitors seeking to experience Rhode Island’s coastal terroir.

The vineyard has earned recognition as “Best Vineyard” in Boston Magazine’s New England Travel Awards and received Editors’ Choice honors from Yankee Magazine. Beyond wine production, Sakonnet serves as a community gathering place with regular events including live music, a weekly farmers’ market, and fitness classes.

All events are being held at Sakonnet Vineyard, located at 162 West Main Road in Little Compton. For complete details and ticket information, visit
