Huntingtown resident Andre Xavier Howe, 18, was convicted of unintentional shooting after he struck innocent people after mistaking his target’s address.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office claims that Howe was found guilty of:

  • attempted murder in the second degree;

  • Two counts of first-degree assault;
  • Use of a firearm.

attempted murder in the second degree;

Following an Alford plea in which Howe admitted that the State’s evidence was adequate to condemn him, Judge Mark Chandlee of the Calvert County Circuit Court handed down the guilty verdict earlier this week, according to officials.

The accusations, according to the prosecution, are related to an event that occurred on July 14, 2024, when Howe drove to a townhouse neighborhood in Prince Frederick with a revolver in order to make amends with someone.

The State’s Attorney’s Office claims that after arriving in the area, Howe shot a townhouse at random, wounding two people. The intended target was unharmed and resided at a different residence.

Prior to his sentencing on November 14, Howe is still being held at the Calvert County Detention Center. He could receive a sentence of up to 100 years in prison, which would include a mandatory five-year period without the possibility of release.
