Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus said that on Tuesday, June 18, a federal grand jury indicted 37-year-old Steven Hartford of Shippensburg for posting violent threats using the pseudonym thealex13one13 on many occasions.

The detectives revealed that the threats started on July 21, 2024, when a media source shared a 17-second video of the female politician along with a question on whether she would be the next Democratic nominee. Exactly one week had passed after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the candidate and former president. Hartford made the following remark a few minutes later:

A second tape, titled Could \[the Candidate] replace Joe Biden?, was posted by the station that same evening. Hartford supposedly responded:

He intensified the rhetoric the next day, posting:

  • 22 250 coming her way
  • 5.56 for her
  • 5.56 waiting for her

Following an inquiry by the US Secret Service, Hartford was indicted for threatening a previous US presidential candidate.

If found guilty, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail, supervised release, fines, and special assessments.

Assistant U.S. Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe is prosecuting the case.
