Six Flags America In Bowie Cutting Fright Fest In Final Season Before Permanent Closure
Six Flags in Maryland As the Bowie park enters its final fall season before permanently closing, America will not be reviving its beloved Fright Fest this year.

The park will concentrate on daytime enjoyment with its family-friendly Kids Boo Fest and thrill rides on weekends beginning Saturday, September 6 until the site shuts in November, Six Flags officials said this week.
Six Flags management stated that they have strategically decided to change their fall operation schedule following much preparation and study. As a result, our eerie Fright Fest event will not be happening again this autumn.
As an alternative, Kids Boo Fest will start on September 13 and operate on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. alongside normal rides.
Passholders of Six Flags America will be rewarded with a complimentary admission to Six Flags Great Adventure’s Fright Fest in New Jersey from September 12 to November 2.
This season marks the end of Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor, which announced in May that it would close and sell the 500-acre Prince George’s County site as part of a portfolio optimization initiative. The cancellation serves as yet more poignant reminder of that fact.
In the late 1970s, the park debuted as a wildlife center, and in the ensuing years, it had a complete makeover to become a theme park. Although the Bowie park has been a summertime mainstay for many years, Six Flags stated that it does not strategically align with the company’s long-term growth plan.
Six Flags stated, “We hope you’ll join us for our final fall season.” We hope to see you in the park soon and appreciate your ongoing support.
