Springfield Family Devastated After Two-Alarm Fire Destroys Home, Kills Dog And Bird
After a fast-moving, two-alarm fire destroyed their house and killed their two cherished dogs, a Virginia family is beginning anew.

When Fairfax flames and Rescue personnel arrived at a property in Springfield’s 5900 block of Amherst Avenue shortly after noon on Sunday, July 27, they discovered that the house was heavily engulfed in smoke and flames.
According to the organizers of a campaign set up on their behalf, the family was able to escape unharmed, but they reported that their dog and pet bird both died in the fire, leaving them sad.
There were no other recorded injuries.
“We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to share the devastating news of a house fire that has turned our friend Damien’s life upside down,” the organizers of a GoFundMewrote.
“In a cruel twist of fate, the fire not only took their home but also claimed the lives of their beloved pets, a bird and a dog.”
The family is now receiving support from the community in an effort to assist them get back on their feet.
Friends and relatives have been assisting them in obtaining food, clothing, temporary accommodation, and other necessities in the days after the fire.
In order to start replacing the things they lost in the fire, the money received will also assist them in finding a new, permanent residence.
