Stolen Boat Intercepted While Heading Down Hudson River: 2 Arrested In Poughkeepsie, Police Say

According to authorities, two suspects were arrested and a stolen boat was recovered from the Dutchess County coastline as a result of a prompt police response.

According to municipal police, the incident started at approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, when the stolen sailboat was reported to municipal of Poughkeepsie 911.

The department’s Marine Unit launched right after and started looking for the boat moving south in the Hudson River.

According to the agency, officers stopped the ship and transported its occupants to a nearby harbor, where they were safely brought into custody.

Investigators discovered that damage had been caused by the ignition of the boat being circumvented.

The accused were identified by the police as Christine Vacarr, age 41, and David Dacey, age 42. Both were charged with felonies, including third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal possession of stolen items, and third-degree grand larceny.

Officers allegedly discovered Dacey in possession of drugs, and he is now facing a misdemeanor charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both accused are awaiting arraignment after being transported to police headquarters for processing.
