At around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 30, East Haven police were called to a residence on Dora Drive after someone there claimed that two adult family members had fought with a knife and that one of them had threatened to carry a gun.
Before the police arrived, one of them locked themselves in the house’s basement.
After SWAT teams tried to negotiate a peaceful surrender, police blocked the street for hours. Eventually, the individual emerged without incident.
There were no injuries.
Because it was a domestic quarrel, police did not reveal the identities of the two individuals they detained for fighting.
According to officials, one was freed on a $2,500 bond after being charged with disorderly behavior.
According to police, the second was detained on a $50,000 bond and is charged with first-degree threatening, breach of peace, disorderly conduct, and interfering with an officer.
