Teen Stabbed At Smith Point Beach, Sayville 18-Year-Old Arrested: Suffolk County Police
According to Suffolk County Police, an 18-year-old Sayville resident was taken into custody on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after he stabbed another adolescent during a fight at Smith Point Beach in Shirley.

At 6:07 p.m., police said Alexander Murphy, 18, of 30 Lincoln Ave., stabbed a 17-year-old Selden adolescent in the back with a knife on the outer beach.
Due of his advanced age, the victim—who will not be named—was taken to a nearby hospital to get treatment for severe but non-life-threatening wounds. According to officials, Murphy was also admitted to a hospital for minor wounds.
According to the release, he was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and felony assault in the second degree. After he leaves the hospital, he will appear in First District Court in Central Islip for his preliminary arraignment.
