These Wedding Issues Lead To Most Insurance Claims, Travelers Says

Despite the rising cost of weddings, a recent study found that the same old issues continue to ruin the most important day of a couple’s lives.

On Monday, June 30, Travelers Insurance published their list of the most common wedding claims for 2024. According to the Hartford, Connecticut-based service, in 2024, couples’ primary cause for filing claims was again vendor-related.

These issues, such as DJs or florists canceling weddings, accounted for 27% of all paid claims.

“Before their wedding, soon-to-be brides already have enough to worry about,” stated Deidre LeBlanc, Travelers’ vice president of specialty lines for personal insurance. “By understanding the most common mishaps, they can be better prepared to handle unexpected challenges.”

The following were the most frequent causes of wedding insurance claims by couples, following vendor issues:

  • Extreme weather (22%)
  • Property damage (15%)
