Tires Slashed On Dozens Of Cars, Kitchen Burgled At Clinton Retreat, Police Say

After police discovered dozens of cars at a popular retreat center in Dutchess County with slashed tires, a man was charged with burglary.

According to investigators, the event took place at Clinton’s Omega Institute for Holistic Studies.

New York State Police said on Thursday, June 19, that the incident started at around 11:53 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, which is situated at 140 Lake Dr. in Clinton.

Approximately thirty automobiles with at least one slashed tire were discovered on the site when troopers responded to an allegation of criminal mischief. Additionally, police found evidence of a break-in at the institute’s kitchen.

Michael V. Fitzpatrick, 27, of Pine Plains, was later identified by investigators as the suspect. According to authorities, Fitzpatrick was recently fired from his position in the institute’s kitchen.

On Wednesday, June 18, he was taken into custody and accused of third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary.

Fitzpatrick was released under probation after being arraigned in Clinton Town Court. His next court appearance is scheduled on Thursday, August 7 at 4 p.m.
