According to Jennifer Schorn of the Bucks County District Attorney, Justin Mohn of Levittown is accused of shooting and decapitating his father, Michael F. Mohn, a 68-year-old government employee, in a restroom at his parents’ residence in the 100 block of Upper Orchard Drive, Middletown Township, on January 30, 2024.
According to the DA, Michael Mohn had been an engineer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ geoenvironmental division for 20 years.
According to reports, Justin Mohn labeled his father a “traitor,” displayed his severed head, and pleaded with people to assist him in toppling the American government in a roughly 14-minute YouTube video.
A defense expert disclosed during a competency hearing last year that Mohn had apologized to President Vladimir Putin in a letter to Russia’s ambassador to the US for his prior claims to be the czar of Russia and his request for asylum.
After a five-hour hearing, Judge Stephen A. Corr declared Mohn competent to stand trial. Following Mohn’s two-hour statement at his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, September 10, the court upheld the ruling, as the Daily Voice reported at the time.
On Friday, Oct. 4, Mohn was formally arraigned. In order to maintain their ability to seek the death sentence in the event that Mohn is found guilty of first-degree murder, the Bucks County DA submitted a notice of aggravating circumstances prior to the arraignment.
The Bucks County Correctional Facility is still where he is being kept. Later this month is when his next court appearance is scheduled.
Mohn had filed a number of strange federal lawsuits before to the murder, but they were eventually dropped in December 2023.To read what we discovered in the federal court records, go here.
