Trooper Injured Along With 2 Others When Truck Slams Into Lancaster Home and Fabric: PSP

Authorities said in a release Friday, Aug. 1, that a box truck crashed into Lancaster Home and Fabric on Lincoln Highway East in East Lampeter Township on Wednesday, July 30, injuring a Pennsylvania State Police trooper and two citizens who were sent to the hospital.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 5:04 p.m. as the Troop J, Lancaster trooper was responding to another crash in Paradise Township with lights and sirens.

According to authorities, a white box truck pulled in from the north side close to the 2800 block as the trooper, who was operating an unmarked silver Ford SUV patrol unit, was heading east on Lincoln Highway East. The SUV collided with the passenger-side cab as the truck drove straight into the trooper’s path.

A female employee was pinned inside Lancaster Home and Fabric when the truck was flipped over and crashed into the front of the building, causing damage. She was swiftly set loose by other store patrons before emergency personnel could reach her.

After being taken to Lancaster General Hospital for assessment due to minor injuries, the employee was eventually released.

A female passenger, an adult male, and the box truck’s driver were also admitted to the hospital. According to PSP, the passenger is still in the hospital with severe injuries, while the driver was released that same evening.

After receiving treatment at Lancaster General Hospital for minor wounds, the trooper was released later that evening.

A Pennsylvania Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist (CARS) Unit recreated the collision, and the Pennsylvania State Police Forensics Unit took pictures of the scene.

According to Ronks Fire Company, Lincoln Highway East was stopped for a number of hours as workers cleaned the debris.
