Trump Slams Zohran Mamdani After NYC Primary Win

Trump responded angrily on Truth Social after Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani’s unexpected win in the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City, attacking everything from Mamdani’s voice to his appearance.

Trump wrote, “It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line.” Zohran Mamdani, a fervently Communist lunatic, has won the Democratic Primary and is headed for mayor. He is not very intelligent, has a terrible appearance, and a grating voice.

Trump continued his tirade two minutes later with a satirical plan for Democrats seeking to regain control of the federal government.

The Democrats should nominate low-IQ candidate Jasmine Crockett for president, AOC+3 for vice president, three high-level cabinet members, and our future Communist mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, after years of being left out in the cold. Our nation is truly screwed!

Democratic Leaders Take Care in Their Reaction

Democratic leaders adopted a more composed stance while Trump was furious; a number of them congratulated him but refrained from making outright endorsements.

Governor Kathy Hochul said she is forward to meet with Mamdani in the coming days and commended his grassroots coalition.

Hochul wrote on X. [Mamdani] formed a strong grassroots coalition, and I look forward to talking with him in the coming days about his ideas on how to guarantee a safe, affordable, and livable New York City. Today, voters made their voices heard, demanding a more affordable, more livable New York City.

Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader, whom Trump referred to as “Cryin Chuck,” praised Mamdani’s victory by pointing to their prior work on environmental concerns and debt relief for cab drivers. He did not, however, formally support the Assemblyman.

Hakeem Jeffries, the House Minority Leader, congratulated Mamdani as well and stated that the two will soon meet in Brooklyn.

A Startling Distress for New York City Democrats

In the crowded Democratic primary, Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist who represents Queens in the State Assembly, surprised everyone by defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was supported by the establishment.

The 33-year-old who would go on to become the first Muslim mayor of the city ran on a broad platform that emphasized community, equity, and affordability in New York. Fare-free buses, universal childcare, city-owned supermarkets, and a significant increase in public housing are some of his ideas.

Along with enthusiastic support from young voters, tenants, and working-class New Yorkers fed up with stagnating salaries and growing costs, his candidacy garnered endorsements from leftist luminaries such as Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Next Steps?

In the general election in November, Mamdani will compete against Mayor Eric Adams, who is currently seeking reelection as an independent. Jim Walden, an independent, and Curtis Sliwa, a Republican, are also running.
