Trump Slams Elon Musk’s New Third Party, Calls Billionaire ‘Train Wreck’

President Donald Trump quickly responded to Elon Musk’s announcement that he will be forming a third party, his former political partner.

President Donald Trump with Tesla/Space X CEO Elon Musk in the Oval Office on Friday, May 30, after Musk resigned from his position at DOGE.

Following the highly publicized and contentious explosion of his relationship with President Donald Trump, Musk floated the concept for weeks before declaring that the so-called America Party was a go.

He made the statement on his X platform on Saturday afternoon, July 5.

“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” the politician wrote.

Trump retaliated on Truth Social, his own site, a little more than twenty-four hours later.

“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” Trump said in an early Sunday evening post on July 6. Even though the Third Political Party has never been successful in the US, he still wants to form one because the system doesn’t seem to be set up for them.

“The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!”

It’s the most recent move in a heated back-and-forth that began on Friday, May 30, shortly after Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, resigned from his post as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk’s constant criticism of the Republicans’ spending and tax bill, which Congress approved and which Trump signed into law in a White House ceremony on July 4th, was the main cause of the dispute.

When a reporter asked Trump if he was thinking about deporting Musk, a South African, during the back and forth between the president and the billionaire businessman, Trump said, “I don’t know, we’ll have to take a look.”

Regarding the bill he signed into law on Friday, July 4, Trump said in his Sunday post: “It is a great bill, but unluckily for Elon, it eliminates the ridiculous Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate, which would have forced everyone to buy an electric car in a short period of time.”

“From the start, I have been adamantly against that. There is no longer an EV mandate, so people can purchase anything they choose, including gasoline-powered vehicles, hybrids (which are doing extremely well), and new technologies as they become available.

Trump further claimed that after he retracted his candidacy of Jared Isaacman to be NASA’s administrator the day after Musk resigned from his position at DOGE, tensions with Musk increased.

“Elon asked that one of his close friends run NASA and, while I thought his friend was very good, I was surprised to learn that he was a blue blooded Democrat, who had never contributed to a Republican before,” Trump said in a post on Sunday. “Elon most likely was as well.

Additionally, given how much of Elon’s business life revolves around NASA, I felt it was inappropriate that a close friend of Elon’s who worked in the space industry would be in charge of the agency. Protecting the American public is my first priority.
