On Friday afternoon, Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited Washington, DC, to declare that the 2026 World Cup draw, which will determine the group stages, will take place at the Kennedy Center at noon on Friday, December 5.

The United States, Canada, and Mexico will co-host the World Cup from June 11 to July 19. The competition will begin in the nation’s capital, and 48 countries are vying for the renowned trophy that Trump appreciated at the announcement.

“The World Cup is going to be one of the largest and most complex events… it’s one of the greatest… one of the largest it’s like having many Super Bowls in a short period of time,” Trump said.

“Each one of these games, essentially, is a Super Bowl some of them are bigger than the Super Bowl and the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest events (yet) and the Kennedy Center will give it a phenomenal kickoff.”

His administration “will be involved,” according to Trump, and FIFA officials would have complete control of the event “for the big press conferences and everything, and they’ll be in a very safe Capital… They won’t have to worry about walking down the street.”

Later, Infantino gave Trump the World Cup trophy, pointing out that only FIFA presidents, current presidents, and winners are allowed to hold it. Lionel Messi was the last person to touch it.

Trump’s plans for the award were superior.

Jokingly, “Can I keep it,” the president said. “We’re not returning it… We will not return it.

“That’s serious. “That wall over there, right below the angels, is a good place for it to fight,” Trump thought. “It’s a beautiful piece of gold, I will say that.”
