TV Knowledge Helps Somerville Engineer Win ‘Jeopardy!’

It was a thrilling back-and-forth match, the type of “Jeopardy!” episode that fans adore. However, engineer Scott Riccardi of Somerville ultimately demonstrated the worth of a Rutgers education.

On Thursday, July 3, Riccardi won $17,000 by outlasting two other players in the “Jeopardy!” round. This “Final Jeopardy” clue helped him win.

This article’s “question” is located at the bottom.

In Jeopardy, Riccardi got off to a great start, successfully answering 15 answers and missing just one, a pricey “Daily Double.”

Riccardi disclosed on the broadcast that he had a baking marathon as a holiday custom.

Jason Singer, a two-time returning champion whose wife was also a “Jeopardy!” champion, came charging back after he had the lead heading into Double Jeopardy. Despite correctly answering 24 of the riddles, Riccardi was still behind $17,000 to $16,600.

With just $1,000 wagered, Riccardi played Final Jeopardy conservatively. However, he was aided by Singer’s incorrect estimate and emerged victorious.

Riccardi, who graduated from Rutgers University in 2021, is employed as a mechanical engineer in Edison, according to his LinkedIn profile.

On Friday, July 4 at 7 p.m., Riccardi will return to “Jeopardy!” to defend his title on ABC.
