Jaquan Fitchett Wanted For Hit-Run Caught After PD Struggle
What began as a welfare check in a staircase evolved into a full-scale capture of a wanted criminal connected to a horrific hit-and-run in Virginia, drug possession, and a stolen automobile accident.

A wanted fugitive connected to a stolen car crash, many property offenses, and a hit-and-run that injured a woman months ago was apprehended by Prince William County police after they responded to a call for an unconscious guy in an apartment stairwell, according to officials.
The Prince William County Police Department reports that at approximately 1:47 p.m. on Monday, July 7, officers were called to the Bayvue Apartments in the 1300 block of E. Longview Drive in Woodbridge to check on an unconscious person.
Authorities recognized that individual as 27-year-old Woodbridge resident Jaquan Malik Fitchett.
Fitchett had recovered consciousness in the stairway when the police came, according to the police. However, he shoved one of the cops and attempted to flee rather than cooperate.
After a short pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the 27-year-old. There were no reported injuries.
Fitchett allegedly tried to provide officers false identification after being apprehended and was discovered in possession of cocaine.
After confirming his identity, police discovered that he was wanted on a number of crimes, including a multi-vehicle incident that left a 48-year-old lady hospitalized on March 18 near Yorkshire Lane and Old Centreville Road in Manassas.
According to the initial police complaint, the offender side-swiped a car before colliding with another car head-on, the inquiry found. The driver of the second car, a 48-year-old woman, received non-life-threatening medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
Fitchett reportedly walked away from the scene before police could reach him. Later, investigators discovered that he had been operating a stolen car.
After that crash, arrest warrants were obtained, but it wasn’t until this week’s stairwell incident that officers were able to track him down.
Fitchett was taken into custody and is being held without bond at this time. According to authorities, his court date is still pending.
The following are new charges related to the arrest on July 7:
- Assault and battery on a law enforcement officer;
- False ID to law enforcement;
- Obstruction of justice;
- Identity theft;
- Possession of a Schedule I/II drug.
Two counts of felony hit-and-run, grand larceny, petty larceny, and driving with a revoked license are among the prior charges from the March hit-and-run and other investigations.
