‘We Lost Everything’: Community Rallies After Fireworks Send East Hartford Home Up In Flames

On July Fourth, an errant firework set off a fire that consumed a family of ten in East Hartford, leaving them homeless. However, their close-knit neighborhood is banding together to support them as they start over.

The 10-member East Hartford Cauley family is rebuilding after their home caught fire on July 4th due to a firecracker.

17-year-old Victorya Cauley, who is getting ready for college, claimed that at approximately 11 p.m., her elder sister Zaniah Cauley burst into her bedroom and informed her that their Park Avenue home was on fire. They hurried outside after Victorya snatched her little brother.

They were all dressed for bed, and none of them had on shoes.

Victorya told Daily Voice, “I only had my phone.” “… Everything occurred so quickly. We did nothing but watch as our house burned down. We were powerless to help. We lost everything.

Their mother’s automobile, which she had just purchased, was destroyed in the fire along with everything else they owned.

Victorya remarked, “She had worked so hard for that,” She was really proud to get a car after going for a long period without one. But now it’s gone.

Zaniah, her sister, had just returned from Atlanta and had lost almost all she possessed. Everything she and her younger siblings would need for school the following year, including their clothes, was ruined.

While they rebuild, the family has taken up residence in a hotel; however, the duration of this procedure is uncertain.

To replace everything they lost, Victorya started a GoFundMe campaign.

To date, the fundraiser has raised almost $15,000 of its $20,000 target.

Despite the fact that the family lost almost all they owned, Victorya underlined that their tale is one of fortitude, kindness, and community solidarity.

“We’re really grateful we re out safe and thankful for all the love and support we re receiving,” Victorya stated.

East Hartford police did not immediately respond a call regarding the cause of the fire. Authorities may or may not be looking into whose fireworks started the fire.
