West Babylon Teen Killed In Crash With 84-Year-Old Driver: Cops
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, a juvenile motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup vehicle near Babylon, according to Suffolk County Police.

On Tappan Avenue, a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck was being driven by an 84-year-old man from Babylon. Around 3:08 p.m., he struck a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle heading west as he was turning onto the eastbound lanes of West Main Street, according to the police.
After being transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, the motorcyclist—who was identified as 17-year-old Robert Buerkle of West Babylon—was declared dead, according to police.
There were no injuries to the truck driver. According to the police, both cars were seized for a safety inspection.
