A grand jury indicted 34-year-old Francisco Ortiz of Worcester on one count of murder and one count of unlawful firearm storage. According to the Worcester County District Attorney, he is also charged with three charges of reckless endangerment of a child and permitting bodily injury to a minor.

Since his initial charge in October of last year, Ortiz has been held in state custody.

In October, Ortiz’s residence was alerted to the police because of a youngster who had fallen and was not responding.

According to the prosecutor, Ortiz informed medics that his daughter had wounded herself after falling off a table, but doctors indicated it was not true because of how badly her skull was fractured.

According to the prosecutor, he was arraigned in Worcester Central District Court at that time for a number of charges, including multiple counts of reckless endangerment of a child, assault and battery on a child with substantial bodily injury, and permitting substantial bodily injury to a child.

The child’s death and Ortiz’s alleged actions were not disclosed by the prosecution.
