Diaz Pichardo, Vanessa.
Just after two in the morning, Vanessa Diaz Pichardo, 37, lost her life when her Hyundai veered off the road, crashed, and collided with a tractor-trailer near Fort Lee. New Jersey State Police announced on Monday, July 28.
A GoFundMe effort has been started by her sister, Rosanna Diaz, to assist in getting Vanessa’s remains back to the Dominican Republic so that her family can bury her. By Tuesday, July 29, $4,500 had been raised for the campaign.
She wrote, “My name is Rosanna Diaz, and I’m Vanessa Diaz’s sister.” I find it quite distressing to witness my only sister’s separation from both her parents.
Unaware that her light would be extinguished at the exact place she hoped would give her life, she traveled to the United States in search of a better future for herself and her daughter Amelia.
According to Rosanna, Vanessa’s family is eager to say farewell because she hasn’t been home in five years.
She stated, “Only with your assistance will that dream of seeing her one last time come true.” Please assist us in burying her in her own country in a Christian manner.
To paraphrase Vanessa, “God will provide.”
The collision happened in the southbound lanes close to milepost 121.5, according to the police. On the southbound local ramp, Diaz Pichardo’s Hyundai struck a curb and guardrail before flipping over and colliding with the side of a Freightliner tractor-trailer.
There were no injuries to the truck driver. As of Monday, the crash is still being investigated.
