Following allegations that school employees reportedly arranged for students to get abortions, Youngkin announced in a statement this week that he has instructed the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal inquiry to launch an inquiry.
The claims that Fairfax County Public Schools officials may have misappropriated public monies to pay for the abortions and arranged for adolescents to undergo them without parental consent genuinely worry me, Youngkin added.
The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal inquiry is being instructed to launch a thorough criminal inquiry into the situation right away.
Reports suggest that the school system may have planned and funded procedures for several minors, according to the governor’s office.
The involvement of federal, state, or municipal monies will also be investigated by investigators.
“At no time would this situation as described in these 2021 allegations be acceptable in Fairfax County Public Schools,” a district official stated.
“We are prepared to fully cooperate in the state police investigation into these 2021 allegations,” said a spokeswoman. “As this is an ongoing personnel matter, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
“With a continued dedication to academic quality and opportunity for every student in a secure and friendly environment, we are still focused on getting ready for the start of the school year.
